Distinct Abilities Program (DAP) is an academic preschool where children 6 weeks through 6 years, can build a solid foundation in which they can explore and discover their own "distinct abilities".Distinct Abilities provides children with language, mathematics, science and cultural curriculum in the classroom while encouraging and developing socialization and self-led direction. This environment provides each child the opportunity to explore his/her surroundings and share in the joy of mentoring children while still learning from others.DAP has TWO educational programs in SEPARATE classrooms for times when the children need more of a one-on-one approach. Otherwise the children are in an inclusive environment.The traditional classroom offers children exposure to the five domains Physical, Social, Cognitive, Communicative and Adaptive in an advanced academic setting allowing children to explore these areas at a pace conducive to their own personal growth.The specialized classroom offers the same academic opportunities to children with Downs syndrome, Autism and other developmental delays which ultimately lead to success in the social world. The curriculum has specific units designed to target these children's learning differences so they may achieve a high level of understanding their environment and enable them to establish self-help while grasping academic concepts.The individualized attention to each child's specific needs in either program is vital to their personal success.We offer an awesome After School program for all children (ages4 -12 years). The activity filled classes encourage socialization and the homework area has a tutor to assist in those challenging areas.The goal for DAP is to offer a personal approach with each family, so every child's specific needs can be met. Our staff will love your children and create a lasting bond with your family. We, as early child educators, in a partnership with parents, will continue to explore new ways we can help all children.
