Doctors of internal medicine focus on adult and teen medicine and have had special study and training focusing on the prevention and treatment of adult diseases. At least three of their seven or more years of medical school and postgraduate training are dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases that affect adults. Internists are sometimes referred to as the "doctor's doctor," because they are often called upon to act as consultants to other physicians to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems.
Dr. Frank Scafuri, III comes from a long history in the medical field. After college and medical school, Dr. Scafuri III returned to Staten Island to complete his internal medicine residence at St. Vincent's Hospital. Thereafter, he completed a fellowship in infectious diseases in Queens. Dr. Scafuri III has been in private practice since 2004.
Dr. Scafuri is a life-long Staten Islander. He attended St. Rita's School from first grade to eight and then graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School.
His practice services the Staten Island community along with patients from the surrounding areas of Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan and into New Jersey.
