Founded in 1954, the Drexel Heights Fire District is one of nearly 30 fire districts serving the metro Tucson, Ariz. area. The districts goal is to minimize the threat to life and property due to fire, medical or other emergencies through education, prevention, preparedness, prompt response and effective customer service. The district s communications center is one of three emergency 911 regional dispatch sites in the Tucson area. In addition, the communications center dispatches emergency calls for several other fire departments, including Arivaca, Helmet Peak, Mt. Lemmon, Rincon Valley, and the Tohono O`odham - San Xavier area. The district s technical rescue team specializes in difficult rescue operations, including high-angle, confined space, rough terrain and swift water rescues. The district s wildand team is comprised of firefighters who have additional specialized training in the area of wildland firefighting. The Drexel Heights Fire District conducts its operations from four fire stations.
