Duke Ellington School of the Arts provides an educational experience that includes college preparatory academics, preprofessional artistic training, and access to cultural and intellectual resources. The school provides training and preprofessional studies in grades eight through 10 in various disciplines, including dance, literary media, museum studies, vocal and instrumental music, technical theater, theater acting and visual arts. It also provides academic programs in humanities, English, social studies, French, Spanish, German, math and science. In addition, it offers various student support services that include a learning center, tuitions, counseling, college internship program, shepherding program and student government. Duke Ellington School of the Arts was established in 1974 and is located in Washington, D.C.
