The Public Works Department is a part of City of Durango that maintains engineering, recycling, solid waste, stormwater management and street divisions. Its engineering division provides design, development and inspection services for streets, community parks, trails, and water and wastewater systems. The department solid waste water division collects residential household and commercial solid refuse. The Public Works Department offers residential curbside collection and recycling opportunities for household hazardous waste and electronics. It provides recycling services for motor oil, household batteries, fluorescent lamps, cell phones and athletic shoes. In addition, the department offers street striping and cleaning services.
