Granite
An igneous stone, extremely durable, formed in the Earth's molten core over hundreds of millions of years, granite is available in a staggering range of colors from uniform to wavy, some with holographic sparkle and intense color. Granite needs minimal care.
Marble
The classic decorative stone, originally limestone, marble has undergone natural crystal transformation due to intense pressure and/or heat over millions of years. Marble is veined and adds a stunning finish to vanities, fireplaces, flooring, and walls. It is more porous than granite and will require greater care, and thus is generally not recommended for kitchen counters.
Limestone
A sedimentary rock, composed mainly of calcium carbonate, limestone is often formed in lake beds and contains plant and animal fossils. Limestone does not generally polish well and has a serene earthy look. Limestone is widely used in bathroom vanities, wall and flooring tiles. Since it is more porous than marble, and it is not recommended for kitchen counters.
Origins
These natural stones are mined all over the world and the largest exporters of the worlds are countries like Brazil, Italy, India, China, and South Africa.
There are thousands of different colors to choose from and the price will vary based on your choice of the color and material. You should look at the whole slabs prior to signing up with any fabricator.
