Wellness occurs when the mind, body and spirit are well balanced. Stress can upset the balance of all three, so stress relief is extremely important. Studies show that if a woman experiances excessive anxiety or stress during pregnancy the baby reflects this with irritability, anxious behaviors themselves, and these effects can be seen long term. Expecting Well offers a wide range of services from pampering, to mind/body activites like yoga, as well as educational opportunities to reduce anxiety and stress on a variety of levels. "Our desire is to maximize the wonderful journey that is pregnancy, offering a safe haven of acceptance during a time of huge changes in body image, hormones and personal life. Expecting Well is just the place for a woman to relax and have the healthiest, most happy pregnancy she can imagine." Rachel E. Hall, MD, RYT-200
Services/Products
Exposure conscious, low/non-toxic, pregnancy safe spa services. Medically Safe Manicures/Pedicures Did you know an improperly performed pedicure can cause preterm contractions? Our nail techs are trained in correct techniques for performing nail services on pregnant women. Additionally, we all need to be thinking about our exposures, pregnant or not. We have chosen not to offer acrylic nails or salon services because of the chemicals and fumes. We use a nail line free of several toxic chemicals. We also do not offer gel nails as they require use of UV light. We don't even use UV lights for drying of natural nails because regular exposure is associated with higher rates of skin cancer on the fingers and toes. Massage It is absolutely fine to get a massage throughout your pregnancy, even in the first trimester when most traditional spas don't offer prenatal massage. It is important to receive prenatal massage from a therapist who has advanced training in and knowledge of how the body changes throughout the entire pregnancy. Our therapists have received advanced training in preconception, prenatal, and postnatal massage. They are familiar with the changes in a woman's body as a pregnancy progresses and how to appropriately modify their techniques, as well as positioning, during the massage. Facials We proudly use and offer dermalogica products which were developed for skin health not just "beauty." Dermalogica is a privately owned company driven by education and research, and testing is never done on animals. The line is free of common irritants and ingredients that causeÂskin problems, and is retailed only in spas and doctors' offices so you can consult the expertise of a skin professional who will determine your skin health "prescription." We carry dermalogica product lines for all skin types as well as targeted treatments Age Smart, Medibac (for acne prone skin) and Ultracalming (for sensitive skin). The hormones of pregnancy can cause majoy changes to your skin, it can be more drying or oily, as well as become more sensitive. Pregnancy hormones can also cause darkening (hyperpigmentation) of the skin (face, belly, breasts, stretch marks). We also carry the Chromawhite line for use after delivery to reduce these often disturbing changes. But pregnant or not, dermalogica can help you achieve and maintain beautifully healthy skin. We also carry completely all-natural doTERRA skin care. Hair Removal During pregnancy waxing can be more painful and cause more redness. We are pleased to offer sugaring, an all natural form of hair removal that is less painful and redness producing that traditional waxing.,Exposure conscious, low/non-toxic, pregnancy safe spa services.
