Founded in 1809, Family & Children's Aid is a nonprofit, community-based organization that operates more than five neighborhood-style group homes and offers human services to children, families and seniors in crisis. It also provides pregnancy diagnostic testing, psychiatric evaluation and residential services. Family & Children's Aid offers computer and job-related training and interview skills development classes, as well as conducts banking workshops. It provides substance abuse evaluations and treatment for psychiatric and behavioral disorders, as well as guidance and counseling for children, youths and families. The organization offers mentoring and respite care programs for mentally disabled children, as well as housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry services for senior citizens.
