Family Resource Center, founded in 1987, is a nonprofit adoption agency that aims to create families through adoption. The agency has placed more than 1,000 children for adoption, including those with complex medical issues, such a HIV, Down syndrome and neurofibromatosis. It offers domestic adoption programs and international adoption services for orphans in China, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan. It also provides educational and counseling-centered services and post-placement services to birthparents and adopting parents. The center conducts domestic and international home studies for families enrolled in its programs and for families engaged in independent adoptions and using other placement agencies. Family Resource is recognized by the Council on Accreditation and is headquartered in Chicago.
