Located in Oakland, Calif., First Hebrew Congregation promotes the principles of Judaism. It has a preschool that offers various areas, including art, blocks, dramatic play, music, reading, science and special projects. The organization s religious school serves students in grades kindergarten through seven. It also has a Midrasha that provides education to students in grades eight through 12. The educational institutions provide Jewish moral and ethical values, communal responsibility, and Jewish culture, including Hebrew and Israel. It also organizes Kabbalat Shabbat and various prayer sessions. The adult education center provides adult education on various topics, such as Jewish holidays and life cycle events, history and theology and prayer. First Hebrew Congregation was founded in 1875.
