Frank Black Middle School offers academic and after-school programs to students in grades six through eight. FBMS is a Vanguard Magnet campus that offers accelerated academics for GT students district-wide as well as Pre-AP and traditional classess. Frank Black Middle School has a 30-acre campus with six buildings and features a dance studio, performance theater, karate studio, woodshop, crushed granite track, band hall with individual practice suites and a heated indoor swimming pool. FBMS has the most comprehensive athletics program in HISD, offering football, basketball, soccer, karate, swimming, track and six other sports. The school also has an active group of student clubs and organizations including robotics, Girl Scouts, speech & debate, Odyssey of the Mind, music & theatre, No Place For Hate and a sports club. The school is a part of the Houston Independent School District, which serves more than 200,000 students in over 300 schools. Frank Black Middle School is located in the Oak Forest neighborhood of Houston.
