Established in 1871 as The Society for the Home for the Friendless Women, Friendship House offers a variety of programs and services to return a child to his or her community, with an improved appreciation of self, enhanced social skills and a functional loving family or other caring support system. Friendship House offers a full range of programs and services for at-risk children, as well as for boys and girls with emotional difficulties and their families. Services are provided for infants to teens, through more than 10 programs at over 10 locations in eastern Pennsylvania. Friendship House programs are child-centered, family-focused and take an inclusive approach in consideration for the child's complete needs. Its staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed social workers, mental health professionals, registered nurses, case managers, residential counselors, rehabilitation counselors, direct service professionals, certified teachers and other appropriately credentialed professionals.
