Furr's Family Dining is a restaurant chain that opened its first establishment in 1946. Founded by brothers Roy and Key Furr as a restaurant with a single location in Hobbs, N.M., the group has grown to a chain that maintains more than 50 restaurants in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. It is a part of Dallas-based Buffet Partners, which operates the Furr s Family Dining and Furr s Fresh Buffet brands. The chain s menu includes chopped beef, steamed cabbage, steak fries and beef enchiladas. Its restaurants serve a variety of salads with low-fat dressings. The chain s dessert menu includes pies of various flavors, including apple, cherry, pumpkin, coconut meringue, chocolate chiffon and butter chess. It additionally offers artificially sweetened pies and sugar-free gelatin for diabetic patients. The chain celebrates several events, such as Furr-O-Ween, Furrs-O-de Mayo and Furrsgiving at least once a month, as well as Furr's Festivus in December. Furr's Family Dining, with several locations in Dallas, also offers gift cards of several denominations.
