General Growth Properties owns, develops, operates and manages shopping malls in 44 states. In August of 2004, General Growth announced the merger of The Rouse Company, which added 37 regional shopping malls, four community centers and six mixed-use projects, totaling 40 million square feet, to General Growth's portfolio of owned shopping centers. John Bucksbaum has been the chief executive officer of General Growth Properties for more than seven years. He has been with the shopping center developer for over 14 years.
