Ranbar Technology was started in 1984, when Dr. Russell bought the Ball Chemical plant in Pittsburgh. This plant made resins and house paint. Dr. Russell turned the plant into a resin only manufacturing facility soon after the purchase. For 11 years they made alkyd resins, pipe coatings and core plate varnishes. In 1995, Dr. Russell bought the Westinghouse manufacturing plant in Manor, PA. This plant made electrical insulation varnishes, repair kits and paints used in the electrical industry. This company was called Ranbar Electrical Materials. For the next seven years, both Ranbar companies existed complimenting each other.
