The Department of Audits and Accounts, also known as DOAA, provides credible management information to improve accountability and stewardship for the state and local governments. Established in 1923, the department manages a staff of more than 345 employees. It operates an administration division that offers budget preparation, payroll, property management, mail distribution, and leave and benefit administration services. The Department of Audits and Accounts education audit division is responsible for performing annual financial and compliance audits and preparing compilation reports for over 65 state government units. The department maintains nearly five offices throughout Georgia. Its information technology division offers technical support services. The Department of Audits and Accounts also operates performance audit operations division and sales ratio divisions.
