Originally founded in Seattle in 1972, Grand Central Baking Company of Portland, Ore., bakes and sells more than 11,000 loaves of bread a day. Its specialties include Rustic breads, hand-formed in the style of European and Mediterranean country breads and baked in a hearth-style oven. Grand Central Baking also makes pastries and other menu items from scratch and offers catering services. Employing nearly 180 people, Grand Central Baking Company operates five retail and wholesale locations in Portland and Seattle.
