Founded in 1976, the Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin, also known as GHC-SCW, is a nonprofit member-sponsored staff model health maintenance organization. It practices in the areas of optometry pharmacy, X-ray, physical therapy and preventive care. The organization s health promotion department offers a range of classes, health fairs and worksite wellness programs for employers and members. The Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin serves more than 53,000 individuals annually. The organization also provides services in the fields of chiropractic, dermatology, mental health, podiatry and physical therapy. It additionally maintains a medicine and wellness center that offers services that include acupuncture, massage, body therapy, stress reduction and wellness evaluation. The Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin maintains its corporate headquarters in Madison, Wis.
