Daniel A. Grout Elementary offers learning opportunities to more than 300 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school provides a schoolwide literacy program that includes small-group instruction focusing on reading, writing and speaking skills. It offers the English as a Second Language program, as well as organizes field trips. Daniel A. Grout Elementary has partnerships with Reed College, Lewis and Clark and the Portland State University. It provides sports and activity classes, including tennis, basketball, track, soccer, cooking, chess, arts and crafts. In addition, the school offers physical education, computers and music opportunities in the visual and performing arts.
