HammondKnoll is celebrating over 74 years of being in business. Trusted and referred for seven decades, we are is recognized as the largest full-service carpet, flooring, and furniture cleaning company in the South Puget Sound. Local entrepreneur Ed Cartozian started cleaning oriental and area rugs in Tacoma in the 1930's. After WWII, the cleaning company moved to the present location on South G St. in Tacoma. In the early 1950's, Ed began selling the newly popular broadloom carpeting ( known today as wall-to-wall ) and sold the cleaning business to two of his employees with the last names of Hammond and Knoll. In 1987, Matt O'Haleck bought the local carpet store and building from owner Ed Cartozian. In its first year under new ownership, revenue increased 400 percent. The business has continued to grow 15 times larger since 1987, along with the growth from three employees to thirty. Today, HammondKnoll continues its tradition of excellent service established by its founders. HammondKnoll's people and workmanship are the keys to the company's pride and success.
