Hampshire-Designers, founded in 1956, designs and markets sweaters for customers throughout North America. Its product line ranges from traditional products for women classically-designed, full-fashioned, fine-gauge, acrylic sweaters with a cashmere look and feel and novelty sweaters to sweaters for men that cover the entire range of men s department store offerings. There are five operating divisions within Hampshire-Designers. Its women s divisions are comprised of designers originals, segue limited and private label. Hampshire s men s division is Hampshire Brands. In addition, it operates Item-Eyes, which manufactures women s related separates, including blazers, pants, shirts and sweaters as well as soft dressing. Its product line is sold under its Requirements and Nouveaux labels and the private labels of some of the company s customers. In 2002, the company sold more than 18 million sweaters and 5.5 million units of related separates. Hampshire-Designers is headquartered in Anderson, S.C., and is a subsidiary of the Hampshire Group.
