Harris County Housing Authority, located in Houston, is a nonprofit public housing agency that provides affordable housing options to the low-income citizens of Harris County in Texas. It also supports investments to rehabilitate community and promotes economic self-sufficiency. The agency provides a range of housing programs that includes housing choice voucher, affordable housing development, independent homeownership and homeless housing. It provides rental assistance to more than 2,500 families per month and has developed nearly 900 housing units for senior citizens. Harris County Housing Authority also develops emergency housing transition plans to assist hurricane evacuees.
