Hatteras Financial is an externally-managed real estate investment trust formed in 2007. It invests in adjustable-rate, single-family residential mortgages that are issued and guaranteed by U.S government agencies, such as Fannie Mae (FNMA), Freddie Mac (FHLMC) and Ginnie Mae (GNMA). The company is managed by Atlantic Capital Advisors, which also operates the ACM Financial Trust founded in 1998. It maintains an alliance with American Stock Transfer & Trust Company.
