Established in 1996, Heads Up is a nonprofit organization that provides after-school and summer programs for elementary school children. Its partners include American University, George Washington University, Howard University and Trinity University. The organization serves more than 100 elementary students in its after-school program. Its after-school program includes reading, homework assistance and writing activities, and field trips to local college campuses, historical sites and museums. Heads Up offers classroom-based literacy instruction with field trips and hands-on projects in its summer program. The organization provides classes in poetry, drama, music and the necessity of environment cleaning. Heads Up also offers recreational activities and it is located in Washington, D.C.
