Founded in 1975, The Help Group is a nonprofit organization that serves children with a variety of disorders, including autism, learning disabilities, mental retardation, and abuse and emotional disorders. It provides a range of mental health and therapy services and child abuse, foster family and residential programs. The organization s staff includes more than 800 professionals in special education, clinical psychology, psychiatry, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, counseling, nursing and adaptive physical education. It also operates California State Department of Education-certified specialized day schools that offer prekindergarten through high school programs for more than 1,300 students. The Help Group has a location in Van Nuys, Calif.
