Established in 1903, PS 204 Lafayette High School conducts classes in math and science. It manages the Academy of Finance, which opened in 1986 and was sponsored by the National Academy Foundation in New York City. The school also manages the Academy of Travel and Tourism, which was established in 2000 and offers college-preparatory programs. It organizes football, cross country, swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, bowling, softball, cheerleading, baseball, and track and field activities. PS 204 Lafayette High School also organizes vocal concerts and conducts art and music activities. It operates a chess, beading and jewelry, history, publicity and hiking clubs. The school additionally provides memberships for the National Honor Society. It is administered by Buffalo Public Schools, which operates through finance and operations, multilingual education, public relations and transportation departments.
