HH Gregg Applicances was founded in 1955, in a small storefront on Indianapolis' north side. The new store featured washing machines, clothes dryers, refrigerators and outdoor grills. Not long after, HH Gregg began selling black and white, and the new color television sets, along with other electronic products. Over the years, HH Gregg Appliances added new locations throughout Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. Today, it is one of the nation's leading retailers of discount home appliances and consumer electronics. It is still family owned and operated by the Gregg family. The stores have an expanded inventory of the best technology and brand names, featuring a selection of over 100 digital TVs and 400 major appliances in stock every day. HH Gregg has new stores in Georgia and Lexington, Ky., and maintains a store in Indianapolis.
