Founded in 1985, the Highmark Caring Foundation is a nonprofit organization and an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. It serves more than 45 counties in Pennsylvania. The foundation offers various programs that include preventive health care coverage plans for children from low-income families. The Highmark Caring Foundation provides peer support services to grieving children. It works in partnership with schools. The foundation also offers the Caring Team for Children program, which is comprised of a network of more than 300 schools. The Highmark Caring Foundation provides various programs for children with special health care needs. It additionally operates the Highmark Caring Place, which provides a variety of services to adolescents. The foundation is a part of Highmark.
