North Carolina Historic Sites is a group of more than 25 state historic sites that preserves historical places and properties. It displays a variety of artifacts and organizes specialized programs, activities and demonstrations. The group operates visitor centers with interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations and picnic facilities. North Carolina Historic Sites also maintains houses, farms and industrial buildings, forts, schools, churches and battlefields. Its sites include Historic Bath, Aycock Birthplace, Bentonville Battlefield, Duke Homestead, Reed Gold Mine, Historic Stagville, Fort Fisher and North Carolina Transportation Museum. The group is a division of the North Carolina. Department of Cultural Resources and the Office of Archives and History. North Carolina Historic Sites is located in Raleigh, N.C.
