Founded in 1824, Historical Society of Pennsylvania collects and shares the stories of Pennsylvania. It is one of the largest family history libraries and non-governmental repositories of documentary materials in the United States. Located in Philadelphia, Pa., the society houses 600,000 printed items, more than 21 million manuscripts as well as over 300,000 graphics items. Its collections center is on eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, parts of Delaware, Maryland and the eastern United States.
