The Housing Division, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Va., offers a variety of options for various student groups. It requires all incoming first year undergraduate students to live on-campus, in order to get them involved in the life of the college. It is optional for other students to stay in the college housing locations. Returning upperclass undergraduates can avail of apartments, single bedrooms and residential colleges. The university reserves housing for graduate students in apartments and single- and double-occupancy bedrooms. It offers two apartment communities to students with families. The faculty and staff are provided housing at different locations in the campus and in the Charlottesville area.
