Founded in 1984, The Idaho Foodbank is one of the largest private, nonprofit hunger relief organizations in Idaho. The organization serves low-income, homeless and disabled individuals. It also provides food, information and support services for the victims of domestic violence, senior citizens and pregnant women at nutritional risk. The Idaho Foodbank serves as a central clearinghouse for donated and purchased food. The organization supplies food to more than 150 church pantries, kitchens, senior centers and feeding sites throughout the state. In addition, it has partnerships with the state food industry, government corporations and Chefs to the Rescue, which is a prepared food recovery program. The Idaho Foodbank operates the BackPack program, which serves more than 500 children in schools. The organization maintains a food distribution center in Boise, Idaho.
