Founded in 1908, the Department of Ophthalmology offers eye care services for a range of problems, including glaucoma and diseases related to aging eyes. It performs cataract surgery for routine and complicated cases and laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy. The department also specializes in treating corneal, periocular and external ocular diseases. The Department of Ophthalmology s physicians additionally perform corneal transplantations and other anterior segment ocular surgeries. Its neuro-ophthalmology division detects and treats the diseases of optic nerves and brain that damage vision. The department diagnoses and manages diseases of eye muscles and brain that cause double vision, uncontrollable jumping of eyes and other abnormal movements of eyes. The Department of Ophthalmology is a part of Indiana University in Indiana.
