Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, also known as IUPUI, was formed as a partnership between Indiana University and Purdue University in 1969. The university enrolls more than 30,000 students annually from the United States and over 120 countries. It includes nearly 20 schools and academic units that offer approximately 200 associate, bachelor s, master s, doctoral and professional degree courses in the fields of accounting, anthropology, humanities, applied communication, biostatistics, architectural technology, finance and law. The university has a library that houses more than 650,000 books and educational resources. Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis is also involved in research projects in the areas of life science and liberal arts. It offers various sports activities, including basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, swimming, softball and volleyball. The university operates several colleges and schools, including the Herron School of Art and Design and the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
