Empowerment Initiatives is a cutting edge non-profit organization run by people with mental health diagnoses for people with mental health diagnoses. We opened our doors in April of 2004 and our first year of services was funded by the Real Choice Systems Change Grant. We became an independent non-profit ( 501 ( c ) 3 ) in January of 2005 2005 and provide opportunities for mental health recovery to residents of Multnomah County and Clackamas County, Oregon. Our programs are founded on the Four Principles of Self-Determination: Freedom, Authority, Responsibility, and Support. Empowerment Initiatives Mission To be a catalyst providing individuals with mental health diagnoses opportunities for choice and development of personal goals, using the four principles of self determination. People are the masters of their own lives. Each individual has the power and responsibility for self-healing.
