Established in 1885, Jacksonville Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals. The organization provides adoption services for pure and mixed-breed animals. Its adoption fees include the cost of spaying and neutering, initial inoculations, heartworm prescreen for dogs and feline leukemia testing for cats. As a part of the Nestle Purina's Pets for People program, the organization offers subsidized pet adoption services to senior citizens above 60 years.
