Jefferson Elementary School was founded in 1894 as Eastside School. It enrolls students in kindergarten through grade five. The school provides preschool and before- and after-school programs. Its academic curriculum includes reading, math, science, social studies, music, language arts and physical education. Jefferson Elementary School also organizes a variety of cocurricular activities, such as musical shows, spelling bee competitions, educational outings, family fun nights, book fairs, skating parties, art days and teachers appreciation weeks. Additionally, the school maintains a library that provides several books, encyclopedias, periodicals and leisure reading materials. It is located in Norman, Okla., and is a member of the Oklahoma A+ Schools Network. Jefferson Elementary School is a part of Norman Public Schools.
