Jefferson Parish Water Dept

The Department of Sewerage is administered by the government of Jefferson Parish. The department collects and treats sewerage and industrial wastewater. It provides the pumping of untreated sewage. The department also collects untreated sewage in a gravity line system. It pumps treated water to the Mississippi River for discharge. The department maintains various plants that treat nearly 5 billion gallons of wastewater daily. It operates approximately 450 lift stations. The Department of Sewerage additionally maintains more than 21,000 manholes, as well as over 1,300 miles of gravity and force main pipes.
