Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle, located in Bellevue, Wash., is one of the oldest and largest community Jewish day school in the Northwest. Founded in 1980 by a small group of community leaders, its academics promote an integrated curriculum of secular and Judaic studies for students in grades preschool through eight. Its more than students develop intellectually and spiritually because in addition to language arts, math, computers, science and social studies, its students celebrate Jewish holidays, study Torah, liturgy, Jewish history and the Hebrew language. Jewish Day School also offers other programs to enrich the core curriculum, such as art, music, physical education and library enrich the core curriculum, and a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, such as softball, basketball and volleyball.
