"With Special Consideration For Children" reflects my approach to divorce litigation (both during a divorce proceeding, and in post-judgment proceedings), because divorce has such potentially damaging impacts upon children, and because the welfare of children is usually of paramount importance to the parties in a divorce, and can serve as the basic shared value upon which agreement may be developed.


Of course, some conflicts arise from such intense anger that the welfare of the children gets lost in the process of divorce or post-judgment struggles, and in those circumstances one must be prepared to struggle in the legal arena in order to protect one's right to have meaningful participation in one's children's lives, and in order to protect children from the extremely damaging impact upon children when a parent is not really thinking about what is best for a child and is, in reality, pursuing other objectives and in the process prejudicing the opportunity of a child to grow up in a healthy emotional environment. In these circumstances, the impulse to reach agreement must defer to the interests of the child and litigation must be focused on the protection of the child.


Thus, I work to reach agreement consistent with the best interests of children, and when that is not possible, I am quite prepared to serve as a tenacious litigator. I settle cases when possible and I bring to court over 40 years of litigation experience when necessary.
