Established in 1938, Kingsbury is a nonprofit educational organization that addresses the needs of children and adults with learning disabilities and differences in the Washington, D.C. It serves more than 1,000 children, adults and families with educational, diagnostic, psychological and tutoring services. Its Kingsbury Day School is an independent kindergarten through 12 grade full-time special education school. The school serves the needs of children with language-based learning disabilities through a multisensory, individualized and experiential-learning approach. It provides tutoring services to individuals of all ages with a variety of training and learning styles. Its diagnostic and psychological services division provides comprehensive testing services for children and adults who have experienced difficulty learning. The division also administers admissions tests for area independent schools through participation in the shared testing program.
