Informations
From an early age, I was always interested in the Martial Arts. Even before my Parents allowed me to join a studio, I would wake up early before school and practice what I saw in movies or television. There was something about the discipline and dedication that drew me, and I had a hunger to become the best martial artist I could be. When I turned 13, my father told me he had signed me up at the local San Soo Studio with Master Dennis McClellan. I was so impressed by the students' skills and immediately knew that I wanted to master this art. I went to every class that was offered at the school, and many times stayed late into the evening, working out with Dennis, working out with other die hards and talking about the art. I remember Master Dennis, many nights kicking us out because it was late and he wanted to lock up. I couldn't get enough. When my parents moved further from the Kung Fu Studio, I would walk straight from my Jr. High School to the Studio and wait outside the do ors until Dennis opened up. I will never forget the friendships and relationships that were forged through those times of training. In 1995, I began training with Master Dave Hopkins. I found him to be an inspiring teacher and martial artist. I not only learned great Kung Fu from master Dave, but also how to appreciate and truly care about people.
Services/Products
Dave's commitment to his students was and still is, inspiring. Every person that steps onto his floor is immediately treated like family. It was at his school that I began to train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well. He was one of the few San Soo masters that were teaching and learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The challenge of learning something entirely new was inspiring. I am currently a proud member and instructor in the Dave Hopkins Association. When my wife and I moved to Hungary as missionaries in 1997, I opened a small school, teaching 15 or 20 people. Five of their own in Hungary. Next to my faith, teaching and learning Martial Arts has always been one of my greatest passions. The life skills and confidence that is learned affects every other area of life. As Grandmaster Jimmy Woo used to say " The art of Kung Fu lies not in victory or defeat, but in the building of human character. " I have found that to be true. I am grateful and privileged to be able to pass on the wonde rful gift of Kung Fu San Soo to people who, like me, have a hunger for greater discipline, more passion in life, and a desire for physical and mental development.
