The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance s vision is to encourage and enable every resident of Louisiana to realize their career goals and educational aspirations by providing the necessary financial resources to access postsecondary studies. Its mission is to manage and administer the federal and state student financial aid programs that are assigned to its commission and the Louisiana Tuition Trust Authority. Aid is provided through scholarships that are available from state, federal, college or university and private programs; grants that are awarded on a need basis and come from state and federal funds; loans from state, federal and private programs; and work study programs that are college or university funded positions or federally funded programs are available on a limited basis. Some families opt to save for college in special savings programs, such as LOSFA s state subsidized START saving program.
