The Lane School, located in Houston, is an alternative school that offers classes from preschool through grade 12 and enrolls more than 90 students. Early childhood education classes develop a child's positive attitude toward school and learning and provide foundation experiences that enhance the child's physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth. Elementary school emphasizes an integrated language arts program that includes reading, process writing, spelling and grammar; a hands-on computational skills program in math; and a computer and technological awareness. Middle school addresses the needs of students during the transition between elementary and high school and high school includes the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
