During her tenure, Atty. Soto was a student attorney at the decorated clinic Frank J. Remington Center Legal Assistance to Institutionalized Persons. Acceptance into the clinic is very competitive. Also, the law school's clinics are ranked second nationally, behind Yale Law School, as "Best in Practical Training." Atty. Soto worked directly with incarcerated persons in Wisconsin state prisons. She researched and wrote memos and motions on sex offenses and possible exemption from sex offender registry, obtaining lost appellate rights, detainers, ICE and deportation for felonies under Homeland Security laws, bail recovery, sentence credit, plea withdrawal, probation revocation, and ineffective assistance of counsel. Further, she assisted Spanish-speaking clients understand their sentence and legal file. Atty. Soto obtained the very best disposition for her clients, often surpassing what clients had wished.
