Founded in 1913 and located in St. Paul, Minn., League of Minnesota Cities is an independent organization that provides development and educational support services. It represents more than 800 Minnesota cities and strives to provide opportunities for the development of cities. The organization also addresses various problematic issues affecting the cities administration. Its members include cities and their elected and appointed officials, and special districts and townships throughout Minnesota. It has a staff of professional personnel and includes various departments, such as administration, communications, finance, legal, workers compensation claims and technology services. League of Minnesota Cities focuses on various areas, such as policy development, research and analyses, information sharing and providing educational programs for the city residents. Additionally, the organization provides insurance risk coverage services for the destruction of property and loss of life due to natural calamities and accidents at the work place. League of Minnesota Cities also addresses the employee safety needs and organizes Web-based courses for Minnesota law enforcement officers.
