Probate Court handles cases related to the administration of decedent's estates, appointment of guardians for minors and incapacitated adults and supervision of properties and civil involuntary commitments of mentally ill individuals. It also provides jurisdiction for matters concerning consent for medical treatment, will construction, adoptions, birth record corrections and registrations, name changes and land appropriations. In addition, the court issues marriage licenses and supervises testamentary trusts. Probate Court s hearings are open to the public. The court is governed by Licking County in Ohio.
