Mid-South Regional Blood Center, also knows as Lifeblood, is a nonprofit community blood center. Established in 1963, the center hosts more than 1,300 annual blood drives and operates over 12 donor centers. It recruits donors, collects blood and distributes it to the hospitals. Its services include autologus, therapeutic and directed donations. It also offers informative presentations and blood drive opportunities at local elementary, middle and high schools. The centers presentation programs consists of entertaining and instructional packages that utilize live action storytelling and animation. Mid-South Regional Blood Center also offers incentives, including goodies, meal coupons and T-shirts to its more than 30,000 donors. Located in Memphis, Tenn., the center uses modern technological equipment and provides an opportunity to donate just platelets, red cells or plasma.
