Louisiana-Pacific Corporation is a supplier of building products. The company was founded in 1972 as a spin-off of Georgia-Pacific Corporation and became an independent corporation on Jan. 5, 1973. Building on a strong presence in lumber and plywood, the company pioneered the United States production of oriented strand board panels in 1982. Its products include engineered wood, siding, Louisiana-Pacific WeatherBest composite decking , decorative interior mouldings and oriented strand board. Major markets served consist of wholesale distribution, building materials dealers, retail home centers and manufactured housing producers. Louisiana-Pacific Corporation has more than 6,000 employees and operates over 30 mills, including a location in Wilmington, N.C.
