Horizons Meals on Wheels is one of the largest community-based programs that provides meals for homebound senior citizens, people with disabilities, and individuals in Linn, Benton, and Jones counties, in Iowa. Initiated in 1964, the program serves more than 250,000 individuals every year. It delivers over 1,340 breakfast bags to underprivileged children. The Horizons Meals on Wheels program improves nutritional status and prevents malnutrition. The program helps to meet dietary requirements by providing one-third of the recommended nutrients per meal daily. The Horizons Meals on Wheels is provided at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is a program supported by Horizons - A Family Service Alliance, which provides opportunities for human development to improve the quality of for individuals and families.
